Privacy & Cookies
Last updated October 2026This is the personal website of Moises Figueroa-Contreras (“I”, “me”). It is a portfolio, not a store or a service. It has no accounts, no newsletter and no advertising. This notice explains the small amount of data involved in running it.
The short version
- The site does not set cookies. It uses your browser’s local storage only to remember your language and whether you dismissed the cookie notice.
- I use Vercel Web Analytics to count anonymous, aggregated visits. It does not identify you personally.
- If you send a note through the “Let’s talk” assistant, your name, email and message are delivered to me and logged in a private spreadsheet, only so I can reply.
- If you email me, I use your message only to reply.
- I do not sell or share your personal information, and I do not use it for advertising.

What is collected and why
1. Anonymous usage analytics
The site uses Vercel Web Analytics (opens in a new tab) to understand which pages are visited. According to Vercel, it does not use cookies. Instead it identifies a visit with a hash of the incoming request, and that hash is discarded after 24 hours. The data points it may record are: the time of the visit, the page URL, the referring website, an approximate location (country, region, city), the operating system, browser and device type. I see this information only as aggregated statistics.
When you click one of the “Ask AI” buttons, the site also records an anonymous event saying which assistant was chosen (for example, “Claude”). It records nothing else about you.
Why: my legitimate interest in understanding, in aggregate, how the site is used so I can improve it.
2. Hosting and security logs
The site is hosted by Vercel Inc. Like any web host, Vercel processes technical request data, such as your IP address and browser user agent, to deliver pages and to protect the service against abuse. See Vercel’s privacy policy (opens in a new tab).
Why: the legitimate interest of keeping the site available and secure.
3. The “Let’s talk” assistant
The assistant is an automated, scripted helper. It asks what brings you, then for your email, an optional name and your message. Nothing leaves your browser until you press “Send to Moises”. Then your answers go to this site’s server and on to a Google Apps Script that adds them to a private Google Sheet I control and emails me a notification. While you chat, a draft is kept in your browser’s session storage so you can close and reopen the window; it is cleared after you send and when you close the tab. The assistant also records anonymous events (such as which topic was chosen) with Vercel Analytics, never your answers. If sending fails, you can use a pre-filled email instead. I keep these notes only as long as they are useful and will delete yours if you ask.
4. AI mode (when available)
The assistant’s AI mode answers questions about this website using Google’s Gemini. When you ask a question, your question and the last few turns of the conversation are sent from this site’s server to Google, together with the site’s own public content. Google’s free tier may use this content to improve its products, and human reviewers may read it, so AI mode blocks emails and phone numbers and asks you not to share personal details. To contact me, use Chat mode. The conversation is kept only in your browser’s session storage and is cleared when you close the tab; I do not store AI questions on my side. The AI can be wrong, so please check anything important against the pages of this site or ask me directly.
5. Emails you send me
If you email me, I receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you choose to write. I use this only to read and reply to your message. My email is provided by Google (Gmail). I keep messages only as long as they are useful for our conversation, and I will delete them if you ask.
Why: you contacted me, and replying is necessary to respond to your request.
6. Your clipboard (Gemini button only)
Gemini does not accept a pre-filled question in its link. So when you click the Gemini button, the site copies a fixed prompt, the same one for every visitor, to your clipboard so that you can paste it. The site never reads your clipboard.
Cookies and local storage
This site does not set any cookies, and it does not use tracking pixels or fingerprint visitors for advertising. It uses your browser’s local storage for two strictly necessary settings: your language (“mf-lang”, English or Spanish) and whether you dismissed the cookie notice (“mf-cookies-ok”). These stay on your device, are never sent to me, and you can clear them at any time in your browser settings. Fonts are served from this site itself, so your browser does not contact Google Fonts.
Because nothing non-essential is stored on or read from your device, the cookie notice is informational only. If that changes, this notice will be updated and consent will be requested where the law requires it.
Links to other websites
The site links to LinkedIn and to AI assistants (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok). The “Ask AI” links carry the same fixed prompt about this website for every visitor. They contain no information about you. Once you follow a link, you are on another company’s website, and its privacy policy and cookies apply, not this notice.
Sharing
I do not sell, rent or trade personal information. I do not “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as California law defines that term. Data is processed only by the service providers named above (Vercel and Google) to run the site and my email. I may also disclose data where the law requires it.
Where data is processed
I am based in the United States, and my service providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Those providers use contractual safeguards for international transfers.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, the EU, the UK, California or other US states), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information about you, to object to or restrict its use, and to receive a copy of it. Because analytics data is anonymous and aggregated, I usually cannot link it to you. For anything else, such as an email you sent me, write to pmfiguer@icloud.com and I will respond within 30 days. You will not be treated differently for using these rights. If you are in the EU or UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Global Privacy Control and “Do Not Track” signals are welcome. This site does not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of.
Children
This site is intended for a general and professional audience, including students. It is not directed at children under 16, and I do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
If the way this site handles data changes, I will update this page and the “Last updated” date above. See also the Terms of Use.
